It is a biological process with presence or absence of oxygen (aerobic or anaerobic). Agitation in fermentation is to ensure homogeneous suspension of microorganisms in the medium containing the nutrients. In these processes it is also very important to control the temperature, pH, addition of oxygen in aerobic fermentation and removal of gases formed in anaerobic fermentation.
